The Military

since i was a little kid running around in camo i've always had a passion for all things military. i consider myself to be patriotic and i always wondered if i'd end up in the military...and it appears as if that's the route i'm choosing to take. i'm excited about it and i think it will be fulfilling and bring me a sense of pride in what i do. the problem is...which branch do i try to join? dad is 30+ years in the army...many people tell me the air force is the route to go...yet the navy is also pretty intriguing. about the only ones i've ruled out are the marine corps and the coast guard. i'm not sure why. i've now talked to recruiters for the army, air force, and navy. thus far, the army recruiter has been the most helpful...the navy has been second most...and the air force one has been basically non-existent. so i'm throwing this out here for opinions...and i'm conducting a poll....so lemme know what y'all think. good times.

solid selection

so the NFL draft began yesterday...I was kinda hoping the Niners would take former Texas Longhorn Brian Orakpo...but they passed on him and took Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree...a solid choice...he was the guy who scored the game winning touchdown against Texas last season...so it was tough to swallow at first...but i think he's gonna be that go-to receiver we've needed since Terrell Owens left years ago. we just need a QB to throw him the ball. i'm rooting for Alex Smith. the Niners also unveiled new uniforms...with more of a retro look to em...i love em. don't mistake my football related post as me moving on from basketball and the Spurs...they are in a tough way down 3-1...but i won't give up on em and it's never over until it's over. oh and happy birthday to timmy duncan...yesterday he turned 33. good times.

a fond memory

so with all the drama of the spurs season...manu's ankle and timmy's knee, and some tough times...i've heard and seen many people jumping ship...funny how quickly people jump on and off bandwagons...gone are the days of loyalty. as for me, i will support the spurs through thick and thin. to the ship jumpers i'll just say GO SPURS GO!!! on april 19,2008 i had the privilege to be at the at&t center for the opening game of the playoffs...it was the best basketball game i've ever witnessed in person, with the fellas pulling off a 117-115 double overtime thrilling victory over the phoenix suns. as this year's playoffs approach i thought back on this glorious moment...it's one of my favorite...well it's actually probably my favorite timmy D shot of all time...i can't even begin to explain the feelings i had when manu hit him wide open out there on the wing...i'm like "my word timmy's gonna shoot a three"...oh and he nailed it...i'll never forget that shot...i get goosebumps and misty eyes watching this lil commercial. we'll miss manu this year...but he'll be back. and i won't give up on this year...i'll fight just like the fellas will until the end...whenever that might be. we're just gonna keep pounding on that rock.

good times, and GO SPURS GO.

Muslim & Jew appreciation post

here's a lil shout out to diversity...current Muslim NBA players are:
Rasheed Wallace
Hedo Turkoglu (former Spur)
Memhet Okur
Nazr Mohamed (former Spur)
Hamed Haddadi

Only current Jewish player in the NBA is Jordan Farmar....i don't care for him one bit. but it has nothing to do with him being a Jew.

Let us celebrate diversity!!!

good times.

Big Dave

due to the poor quality of april 6th, 2009... i didn't feel it appropriate to include the big news about david robinson being announced as a member of the naismith basketball hall of fame into my blog post for the day. i'm happy for big dave...and proud to see him go into the hall of fame. his career started with the spurs about the same time as i moved to san antonio...i remember getting his rookie of the year card and thinking "hey that's cool he plays for the team here in this city!" i had no idea what great memories he would create for me. i appreciate the way he represents our country, this city, the spurs organization, and the sport of basketball. he's a solid Christian, and a proud American. congrats five-o.
good times.

it's been a rough day

well the job opportunity fell through for who knows how long, maybe even forever...and then i found out manu is done for the season, playoffs included. i am feeling kinda devastated...but i reckon i should be focusing on all the great things that i've been blessed with. dwelling on the disappointments will only be a bummer. i'm lucky to have the gospel, fam, friends, an amazing friend whom i dearly love (her name's chrissy and i could go on about her forever), for Texas, and  for the great country that i live in...those are just a few of the great things i got goin for me.

good times.
