niner-stache 2008

well it's my niners final game of the season today. they will be sportin the cherry red and gold throwback uni from the glory days. the offensive line came up with the idea to all grow rowdy mustaches to honor former niner greats who all rocked the stache. the team caught on and a bunch of them decided to do it. i felt the need to support them so here's my niner-stache. i'd like to add that i also sported this for about 5 or six hours in honor of goose.
thinking of happier times for the niners
realizing we'll be happy to go 7-9 this year
the stache accents my smile no?
i don't know what else to say.
just thought i'd have a lil fun here...that's just ridiculous. but good times.

the christmas loot

so apparently i was good this year cause i cashed in for christmas. here is a photo of the loot. it's the lovely picture in a frame, a spurs calendar, a spurs mr. potato head, a 120gb iPod, a nike watch, some minty shampoo and conditioner from bigelow apothecaries, an iPod armband, and some chocolates. thank y'all to everyone who participated in giving me this fun stuff.

http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/multimedia/photo_gallery/0812/gameaction1225/images/spurssuns6.jpgroger mason jr. and the fellas decided to give me a christmas gift as well with their nifty 91-90 win against phoenix. the arena went silent after mase dropped a sugary sweet, ice cold 3 ball to seal the deal. notice the stunned fans here in the pic. and an appreciative welcome to my newest follower. ;) good times.

Colt McCoy dug the red river with his bare hands to keep the riff raff out of the Republic.

well i'm not gonna lie...this college football season has been full of lots of joy, yet bits of agony as well. in the end i find myself greatly disappointed in the season. and we're playing in a major bcs bowl. i've tried to keep comments to myself thus far...but sitting around the house today pondering has led me to this. to hache with the bcs...and screw the oklahoma sooners. i can't fathom why a team with the same record as us, who lost to us by ten points, got to go play another team(that we clobbered) for the big 12 championship and esentially an invite to the bcs national championship game. the system is whack and every year it seems to show that...it just so happens that this year it's my team that's getting screwed over. i now fully support a playoff system for college football. one bright spot i still have shining though is the brilliance of colt mccoy. the dude's a wizard out there on the field...i absolutely love watching him play. i never thought my heart could go to another texas quarterback after vince young...but colt has done that for me. tomorrow evening he will be in new york city to hopefully receive the heisman trophy. if that idiot from ou wins i'm gonna puke. here's to good times y'all. hook 'em!

thanks a 1,000

i thought this day, when tim duncan plays his 1,000th game for the san antonio spurs, deserved a blog post tribute. i mean this with all seriousness when i say that timmy has brought so much happiness into my life. he came as a real blessing as the #1 overall pick the year after big dave hurt his back...he was the missing piece to what is now a glorious dynasty. he has led our team with class to 4 championships. since the spurs drafted timmy d...no team in any professional sport has a higher winning percentage. he represents the franchise, city, and the game with class and dignity. he simply goes to work and dominates games on both ends of the court (as evidenced by him pounding steve nash's shot for dinner there)...and he doesn't beat his chest and say "look at me" while he does it. he is one of the greatest to ever play the game. he has no doubt moved up my list to become my all-time favorite athlete...and honestly, i don't see anyone ever taking that spot. i'm just so glad that he is a san antonio spur...so here's to timmy d. thanks for the good times 21.

a day that will live in infamy

i can't believe we're already working our way into december...that's crazy. today, on dec 7th, i am reminded of the attacks on pearl harbor back in 1941...i believe that was a sunday morning as well. i appreciate the manner in which our great country rallied from those devastating attacks and how they responded to adversity. but on another (much lighter) note, it looks like my beloved texas longhorns will play against ohio st. in the sugar bowl on january 5th. i couldn't watch the big 12 championship yesterday as it sickened me to think that two teams texas beat soundly were playing for the conference championship...besides, i had great company and was enjoying myself otherwise. i think watching that just would have upset me. my spurs scored over 100 pts in consecutive games for the first time all season...i feel good about manu and tp coming back from injury...and am confident we will be a serious force to be reckoned with come april, may, june. i'm stoked. i gotta say life is good these days. happy december and good times y'all.

we lost a good man

i was saddened to hear the news of the passing of elder joseph b. wirthlin today. i really enjoyed his talks, and the gentle, loving spirit he carried about himself. he truly exemplified Christlike love and was a great example to us all. i really appreciated the fact that he played football back in the day at the university of utah . and i'll never forget the story of how he could have cheated his way into the endzone for a game-winning touchdown...but he knew he hadn't made it in and remained just short. in the heat of competition that had to be a very tough decision...but he made the absolute right one...integrity triumphs over victory.i can only hope i woulda done the same. i also loved his sense of optimism. i love how he said that no matter how dark friday may get, sunday will always come. so indeed, come what may...and love it.
