niner-stache 2008

well it's my niners final game of the season today. they will be sportin the cherry red and gold throwback uni from the glory days. the offensive line came up with the idea to all grow rowdy mustaches to honor former niner greats who all rocked the stache. the team caught on and a bunch of them decided to do it. i felt the need to support them so here's my niner-stache. i'd like to add that i also sported this for about 5 or six hours in honor of goose.
thinking of happier times for the niners
realizing we'll be happy to go 7-9 this year
the stache accents my smile no?
i don't know what else to say.
just thought i'd have a lil fun here...that's just ridiculous. but good times.

the christmas loot

so apparently i was good this year cause i cashed in for christmas. here is a photo of the loot. it's the lovely picture in a frame, a spurs calendar, a spurs mr. potato head, a 120gb iPod, a nike watch, some minty shampoo and conditioner from bigelow apothecaries, an iPod armband, and some chocolates. thank y'all to everyone who participated in giving me this fun stuff.

http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/multimedia/photo_gallery/0812/gameaction1225/images/spurssuns6.jpgroger mason jr. and the fellas decided to give me a christmas gift as well with their nifty 91-90 win against phoenix. the arena went silent after mase dropped a sugary sweet, ice cold 3 ball to seal the deal. notice the stunned fans here in the pic. and an appreciative welcome to my newest follower. ;) good times.

some early christmas cheer

well i was highly anticipating the arrival of my lightning and mater shirt...it came and i am very pleased with how it turned out. shot right up the list to one of my favorite shirts. i felt like it deserved a blog entry and pic, props to the photographer. y'all know i wouldn't have pulled off a quality pic like this.

in other news, chrissy and i exchanged christmas gifts last night...she gave me this picture here in a frame...anyone who knows me should recognize that this picture had quite the effect on me. pretty much rocked my world. definitely made my christmas merry. and lookin at it who'd a thought she's a california gal? so hey merry christmas y'all! hook 'em horns! (jan 5th) good times.

Colt McCoy dug the red river with his bare hands to keep the riff raff out of the Republic.

well i'm not gonna lie...this college football season has been full of lots of joy, yet bits of agony as well. in the end i find myself greatly disappointed in the season. and we're playing in a major bcs bowl. i've tried to keep comments to myself thus far...but sitting around the house today pondering has led me to this. to hache with the bcs...and screw the oklahoma sooners. i can't fathom why a team with the same record as us, who lost to us by ten points, got to go play another team(that we clobbered) for the big 12 championship and esentially an invite to the bcs national championship game. the system is whack and every year it seems to show that...it just so happens that this year it's my team that's getting screwed over. i now fully support a playoff system for college football. one bright spot i still have shining though is the brilliance of colt mccoy. the dude's a wizard out there on the field...i absolutely love watching him play. i never thought my heart could go to another texas quarterback after vince young...but colt has done that for me. tomorrow evening he will be in new york city to hopefully receive the heisman trophy. if that idiot from ou wins i'm gonna puke. here's to good times y'all. hook 'em!

thanks a 1,000

i thought this day, when tim duncan plays his 1,000th game for the san antonio spurs, deserved a blog post tribute. i mean this with all seriousness when i say that timmy has brought so much happiness into my life. he came as a real blessing as the #1 overall pick the year after big dave hurt his back...he was the missing piece to what is now a glorious dynasty. he has led our team with class to 4 championships. since the spurs drafted timmy d...no team in any professional sport has a higher winning percentage. he represents the franchise, city, and the game with class and dignity. he simply goes to work and dominates games on both ends of the court (as evidenced by him pounding steve nash's shot for dinner there)...and he doesn't beat his chest and say "look at me" while he does it. he is one of the greatest to ever play the game. he has no doubt moved up my list to become my all-time favorite athlete...and honestly, i don't see anyone ever taking that spot. i'm just so glad that he is a san antonio spur...so here's to timmy d. thanks for the good times 21.

a day that will live in infamy

i can't believe we're already working our way into december...that's crazy. today, on dec 7th, i am reminded of the attacks on pearl harbor back in 1941...i believe that was a sunday morning as well. i appreciate the manner in which our great country rallied from those devastating attacks and how they responded to adversity. but on another (much lighter) note, it looks like my beloved texas longhorns will play against ohio st. in the sugar bowl on january 5th. i couldn't watch the big 12 championship yesterday as it sickened me to think that two teams texas beat soundly were playing for the conference championship...besides, i had great company and was enjoying myself otherwise. i think watching that just would have upset me. my spurs scored over 100 pts in consecutive games for the first time all season...i feel good about manu and tp coming back from injury...and am confident we will be a serious force to be reckoned with come april, may, june. i'm stoked. i gotta say life is good these days. happy december and good times y'all.

we lost a good man

i was saddened to hear the news of the passing of elder joseph b. wirthlin today. i really enjoyed his talks, and the gentle, loving spirit he carried about himself. he truly exemplified Christlike love and was a great example to us all. i really appreciated the fact that he played football back in the day at the university of utah . and i'll never forget the story of how he could have cheated his way into the endzone for a game-winning touchdown...but he knew he hadn't made it in and remained just short. in the heat of competition that had to be a very tough decision...but he made the absolute right one...integrity triumphs over victory.i can only hope i woulda done the same. i also loved his sense of optimism. i love how he said that no matter how dark friday may get, sunday will always come. so indeed, come what may...and love it.

thanksgiving

well it is the week of thanksgiving...a most wonderful time of the year. i love it. there's the three great f's....family,food,and football. the weather begins to turn a bit cooler. the christmas season that i love begins to kickoff...it's really no wonder that it's timmy duncan's favorite holiday. so i was reading my favorite talk this morning...elder dallin h. oaks' the challenge to become. he speaks of how most of our real growth comes from the times of hardship and challenge.i certainly witness of this principle and know that it's how we respond to adversity that matters. yet we have the promise that no matter how dark friday may get...sunday will always come. i love that. so it got me thinking about how i'm grateful for the challenges i've faced in my life, for they've helped me to become the man that i am...and they've helped me realize who the man is that i hope to be someday. so i'm thinking about being grateful...and i decided that seeing as how i'm fixin to celebrate my 27th thanksgiving, i'd list 27 things i'm grateful for. here they are:
  • my Savior Jesus Christ
  • the Book of Mormon
  • living Prophets and Apostles
  • the Spirit
  • the Temple
  • a mighty change of heart
  • my family
  • my heritage
  • my country (United States of America)
  • my home (the great state of Texas)
  • my mission
  • tim duncan,manu ginobili,tony parker,david robinson,gregg popovich,michael jordan,steve young,mack brown,vince young,colt mccoy
  • 4 glorious 'ships from the fellas ('99,'03,'05,'07)
  • university of Texas football
  • friends (real ones and the tv show)
  • good books
  • tex-mex,steak,and other delightful foods
  • funny movies
  • country music (and all other types of good music)
  • my shoes
  • a good run on a crisp,cold winter morn
  • the hot shower that follows that run
  • Christmas time
  • the feeling of competition
  • cowgirl boots (seriously...very nice)
  • those who've sacrificed so much for my country and my religion
  • love,hope,joy,peace
comment if you actually read this far...longest post ever? good times y'all.

TGIF

so TGIF hasn't meant this much to me since i was a young fella lookin forward to homemade pizza, some pop, and full house/family matters on the telly. but i tell y'all what i am thrilled that it's friday. happy weekend to all. may it bring us spurs victories, a texas tech loss, and good times.

solid

well i finally got a job...today is day one for me at washington mutual. hopefully it won't be too painful. can i just say that it's been a good run being a waste of space since coming home from the mish back in january...you might say that this is back to the real world for me. but i reckon it is good to have a little responsbility in life.(and some $) but i suppose even a working man has good times,so it's all good. how bout this last weekend though? now that was some good times. kicked off w/ the food olympics, which were solid.(even though i under-performed)...then the fellas got a gritty win against the rockets.solid. i awoke saturday morning to a rousing game of football.(once again,i under-performed) then i enjoyed watching my texas longhorns demolish the kansas jayhawks.solid. i enjoyed a quality meal w/ family at alamo cafe on saturday night, always good times chillin w/ the fam. sunday was solid, more chillin w/ the fam...plus throw in a niners victory and you'd think i'm set. but then the fellas up and beat the kings for our first winning streak of the season! maybe i'm beginning to catch my break eh? this weekend was good times. solid.

America...the land of the free, because of the brave

well since i was a little dude i've always had a fondness for all things military. i do consider myself pretty patriotic and today, on veteran's day, i wish to honor the many brave men and women who have sacrificed much to serve our country. from the sacrifices made by our forefathers to achieve independence, to those today who are serving in iraq and afghanistan, i honor the patriots who have defended and are defending the freedoms we enjoy. i recently finished watching "band of brothers" which shows some of the challenges of E Company (Easy Company), 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment,101st Airborne Division during the europe campaign of world war 2...they went through quite a bit. i think a chosen generation really did carry our country through that tough time. i am humbled when i think about the many who have given all for the cause of this great nation that i love. i am proud to be an American. may God bless Her always.

tony le magnifique!!!!!

so i know the month of november has seen me rapidly posting new posts everyday...it's a little bit out of control. but i think tony parker's performance last night deserves a new post. and may i just take a moment to highlight the last sentence of yesterday's post..."i'm looking for a big night from tony parker." well i think the double-nickel he dropped on them fools pretty much classifies as "a big night"...a career high for tp. that's right...he scored 55 pts on them...including a bonito buzzer beating bunny that had me begging to scream but settling for rapidly pumping my fists as i dvr'd it and was watching at about 1230 in the morning...(i was busy knocking down my own game winner in some pickup run at the local stake center) i also would like to point out that tp9 dished out 10 assists and snatched down 7 boards...the last man to go for 55 pts and 10 dimes??? a fella by the name of michael jordan. tony and i's childhood idol. (tp is just a month older than me) just four players now have ever had a 50 pt 10 ast effort...tony parker, michael jordan, lebron james, and oscar robertson...for those of y'all who aren't as involved in sports as me...that's elite company. i would like to take this opportunity to personally thank tp for really giving me a nice lift. and let us not forget timmy d's ho-hum 30 pts and 16 rebs...or the extremely solid effort of new spur roger mason jr who had 26. good times!

on a different note...

well i thought i'd get a new video up as soon as possible since i'm done thinking about the whole proposition 8 thing. i forgot i had this sweet (i meant that as in "cool" but can see where some might think i was referring to something like "precious" here)video of essie and summer singing, i thought of it as i was walking into the temple this morning. this second video post on my blog is infinitely better than the first one. i must say that i have some awesome neices and nephews, and these little gals will always hold a special place in my heart because of a memorable trip to mcdonald's. i am still anxiously awaiting the spurs first win of the season...they'll get another chance to put a mark in the win column tonight against minnesota...i think tonight's the night. i'm looking for a big night from tony parker. good times y'all.

not my typical kind of post

well i hate to get political, but it somehow happened...someone sent me this video and said it was airing in california...don't know if that's true, but someone did take the time to make it.it was a bit appalling to watch...yet so ridiculous that i found it to be comical. what's not funny is the mockery they're making of mormon missionaries. for two years i walked and biked who knows how many miles...sweated in the summer heat...sloshed through the winter snow and ice and left everything that is familiar to me behind. i was yelled at and made fun of, even threatened at times. i interrupted my schooling and even missed a spurs championship...i left my family for two years and missed my little sister's wedding...and i did it all out of love...for my Heavenly Father and for His Son Jesus Christ...and for my fellow man. i consider those years and experiences to be sacred and was a bit disgusted to see this radically inaccurate depiction of what representatives of Jesus Christ really do. on a lighter note...i definitely made that white shirt and tie look a lot better than the two hosers in that video, and the spurs are gunning for their first victory tonight against the mavs and fabricio oberto should be returning to the lineup. go spurs go.

okay...un-happy november

so i am what you call a "we fan." it means we go above and beyond that of "fan." "we fans" have an emotional investment that just seems to make games mean even more. tonight i am heartbroken and i have no breezy's shoulder to weep on...i'm mad and i have no where to go to vent...so i must come here to the blog. i'm not blaming the game's outcome on the refs here, just a funny pic from the party last night. i am indeed devastated. the passion i have for sports makes the highs really high, and the lows really low. but that's what i love about competition and about sports. the feeling i get inside when my team is in a tight game coming down to the wire can't be replicated...my heart beats,my stomach churns, my feet constantly move, my legs tremble,my knuckles pop, and i absolutely love it. as weird as that may sound to y'all. i guess you have to experience pain to know joy."...having no joy, for they knew no misery;" (2 Nephi 2:23). i guess misery would kinda describe my state of being right now. i won't sleep tonight. i'll stare at the ceiling and think about how blake gideon (poor kid's a true freshman) let a game ending interception slip right through his hands with under ten seconds left. really my mind has constantly replayed that scene over and over in the last hour. i'm pretty much devastated. where can i turn for peace? we battled back and responded to so much adversity in that game...it felt like it was destiny to win when we took our first lead of the ballgame w/ 1:29 left...it wasn't so. this moment is pretty much the opposite of good times...but hey, "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!!!

happy november!!!

well i'd like to begin the month by saying hook 'em horns. today is a huge game in lubbock against texas tech...a victory today would just light up my life. so here's the pics from last night...i was a texas football coach for halloween. i look at myself in the coach's getup and it looks very fitting. back in high school it was my dream to become a coach...maybe i dropped the ball somewhere? i must say that sports are my passion. the fellas lost a tough one when michael finley missed a bunny at the buzzer...we lost by one. fin-dawg is good for that shot 8 times out of 10...still...it kinda sucks to start off the year 0-2. we'll get this deal goin though. oh yea angie and i ran a 5k this morning...it was to raise money for a thanksgiving dinner for people...it was pretty cool...i ran it in a little over 23 mins...oh another interesting tidbit form my life...i voted on the last day of early voting yesterday...had to wait about 45 mins...but as i was nearing the front of the line i recognized a dude walk by and i realized it was my 3rd grade teacher mr. brown...he was always my favorite teacher and obviously touched me in some way if i still recognize him...didn't get to say anything to him though. on a sad note, carrie underwood appears to have found a new boyfriend, and it's not me...just like harry and lloyd say..."we'll get our break someday." well, good times y'all.

let's get it started

well the day is finally here...the spurs season opener. even if i hadn't been counting down the days i would have known it was around the corner...for i was chillin w/ tim duncan in my dream last night. that's like the 4th or 5th time that's happened. i love those dreams...a bit of a bummer to wake up and realize timmy d isn't really my friend...but hey maybe some day. i'm confident in the fellas. we brought in some young talent...so the team's average age is now 29....rather than last year's 30. it'll be a tough stretch without manu to start off the year, but pop's system is solid enough to carry us. i am so stoked. here's to another banner in the at&t center and many good times.

Friday, October 24, 2008

it's that time of year

well the spurs season opener is less than a week away...what good times ahead!!! meanwhile, tonight was the institute fall festival. not exactly my cup of christmas cocoa, but i thought it a good opportunity to dress up as manu. in this picture i'm pretty close to authentic. the shorts are replicas. but i'm wearing an authentic spurs long sleeve tee, w/ an authentic cut-sleeve shootaround shirt, as well as the authentic pregame warmup jacket. i'm also wearing the authentic nba logo socks...and the nike air max chosen are the shoes manu wore his rookie year...back in the day. i'm sporting a manu ginobili rubberband bracelet as well. on this day i'm even rockin a bum left ankle just like manu is. (i rolled mine on wednesday playin ball...not as severe as manu's, but hey we both got bum left ankles) i'm also sporting some facial stubble a la manu...besides that, the other good times in my life are the texas football game on saturday afternoon...and anxiously awaiting my LSAT score report...which should come any day now. hopefully that'll be good times.

...yikes!!!

well i made the 4 hour drive to ft. worth texas to go to a highly anticipated matchup between tcu and byu. i was hoping for a good game...unfortunately, the byu football team didn't quite make it to texas. they got it handed to them. this smile in the picture i took pregame was about the last time i smiled. i was actually pretty fired up before hand. there was a pretty good turnout of byu fans...and max hall was jumping up and down getting us fired up...then they did the haka and i was stoked. but the good times were over after the opening kickoff. after a while i resorted to entertainment from the byu cheerleaders...which for me is actually a pretty big deal. don't get me wrong i still watched the football...it just got old seeing byu go three and out over and over again. plus i had a lot of whiny and ignorant fans around me. i don't expect people's knowledge of the game and/or players to be on my level...but if you're gonna be all whiny ya gotta know what you're talking about. all in all though, i had a good time. i enjoyed the little road trip there and back. so it was still good times.

good times indeed

well this past weekend was definitely some good times. i went to provo to visit friends from the mish and hang out with the fam for a bit. i stayed at my buddy john cannon's place there in provo. we met up with perkes and visited the andino family from the mish. they moved to utah a little while ago...she fed us pupusas and we ate like kings. (o sea...comimos como los reyes) then i enjoyed a few byu parties. there were many a fine breezy there...realmente es una tierra de oportunidad. then on saturday i awoke to thoroughly enjoy the texas longhorns victory over ou. it was so sweet. i enjoyed flaunting my texas gear all weekend long...including a nice smile and wink at a dude sporting an ou beanie at the byu game...it got too cold for my byu jersey so i had a texas beanie and hoody on. it was sweet. the byu game was also very fun. byu won 21-3 including an exciting touchdown pass to austin collie right in front of us. i then enjoyed another shindig on saturday night where i got to hangout w/ volzy who is another great mission bud. hermana bell from our district in columbia was there as well as elizabeth smart.(of fame to many utahns or anyone who watches the news) then i went to church w/ cannon at byu...otra vez, les digo que es una tierra de gran oportunidad. then i went over to amber and matt's to hang out w/ them and the little ones. i enjoyed having them crawl all over me and eat candy with me. on monday i had a nice little walk with my buddy sinjin. then mom and amber picked up some delicious five guys burgers and fries for me. more fond mission memories. for anyone who hasn't had five guys...i highly recommend it. they're coming soon to texas...hopefully san antonio. well i must say these were some good times.

i am so stoked...

well this coming weekend has the makings of the greatest weekend of college football in my short little life of 26 years. i'll be in provo at lavell edwards stadium in the cold and maybe even a little snow to watch the #9 cougars take on new mexico. but before that...the red river rivalry game will square off at the cotton bowl...amidst the texas state fair...where the #1 oklahoma sooners (boo!) will take on the #5 texas longhorns (hook 'em!) this game is huge. i am so stoked for both of these games. as if that wasn't enough...there's a huge sec matchup between #4 lsu and #11 florida. this should most definitely make for some righteously good times. HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!!!

glad to get it over with

well i was up with the sunrise on a saturday morning to head over to utsa to take the LSAT. i'm glad to be done with it. now i just have the three week wait for the scores to deal with. it was long and grueling...about four and a half hours...but it actually went by kinda fast, because they do it in sections and one is always in a rush to do all you can in thirty five minutes. i suppose it was an interesting experience. it sounded like most people planned to blow off some steam post-LSAT by having an alcoholic smorgasborg...i opted for a spirtitual smorgasborg...(aka general conference)...and a texas football game. so i reckon that's good times.

p.s. oh yea...it's officially red river rivalry week...hook 'em horns...beat OU!!!

the fellas are back

well this is the greatest time of the year to follow sports in my opinion. football season is in full swing...baseball playoffs are here, and all of a sudden baseball is a lot more interesting...and of course, basketball season is nearing its beginning. the spurs reported to start training camp yesterday...it's great just to see the fellas and here their voices. manu sounds like he's feeling pretty good after the ankle surgery...tp is in his prime and timmy...well he's timmy. i'm stoked for the team this year. we kept together the main pieces...and infused some young talent...hopefully this will carry us back to the top where we belong. plus there's no way we can lose when pop's sportin a rowdy beard like that. may this be the first of many a "GO SPURS GO" chants.
http://www.woai.com/media/news/4/2/5/425bcc20-c1dd-420a-97c3-1ad3764e65c7/Original.jpgsanta clause? nope...coach pop...timmy d says it's intimidating, coach pop says he'll shave, trim, or do whatever timmy wants him to do to it. ah...the good times.

where were you when the world stopped turnin...

well before this day is actually over, i feel the need to write about september 11th. i was watching a fantastic episode of FRIENDS today...in season 5...and they showed the sun behind the new york city skyline...right behind the twin towers. i paused the screen, took a good look...put on some music and just wrote in my journal a bit...i suppose this is my chance to reflect in a slightly more public forum. we'll never forget where we were or what we were doing that day. i remember mom waking me up telling me the pentagon was on fire...that sounded pretty serious so i popped right up out of bed (that in itself tells you something is up)...i remember watching the news and seeing the towers actually falling...i can still see the news reporters just stop talking and start crying...i remember the sky seemed so empty...and eery, yet almost peaceful. i remember driving to school...my first semester at utsa, i remember seeing the flag flying at the whataburger at blanco &1604...it brought tears to my eyes. i remember my texas history professor would only allow us to discuss it for the first 30 minutes of class...because we absolutely had to cover some material...as if anyone was thinking about texas history that day. besides alan jackson's song that came afterwards...there are two songs that i remember from that day..."overcome" by live...and "hero" by enrique iglesias. well i suppose this has gotten longer than i thought it would. i guess this would be the appropriate entry to end with something besides "good times"...what comes to mind is...God bless America...the land of the free, because of the brave.
http://911research.wtc7.net/wtc/info/docs/twin_towers1.jpg
we will never forget 9-11-01

in response

i came across this poem (actually it's just an excerpt) and thought it was cool...it'd make john denver or thoreau proud i'm sure.
"There is a pleasure in the pathless woods;
There is a rapture on the lonely shore;
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music its roar;
I love not man the less, but Nature more."

some dude named lord byron wrote it. i really like the last line there...good times.

are you ready for some football?

i've always enjoyed monday night football. it's a great way to welcome the week and softens the blow of the weekend's end. in sunday school a few weeks ago, the teacher asked..."what do we do every monday night?" i immediately got giddy as the monday night football song played in my head and i thought to myself, "monday night football baby!!!" i honestly wasn't thinking of fhe like the teacher assumed we would. but what a treat tonight to kickoff mnf with a double header...should be solid. funny that i'm still stoked to watch football...i watched it for 11 straight hours on saturday...from the byu game beginning at 2pm...to the end of the texas game at 1245 am. crazy huh? i did take a dinner break though. then i threw in a couple more hours yesterday and will probably be watching some recorded football here shortly. ah...it's glorious. my teams were mostly successful...the niners began to erase that preseason hope that all fans have as they turned the ball over 5 times. even w/ the crimson and gold struggling...these are truly some good times.

he's gone country...

...look at dem boots. after 18 years living in texas...today i officially became a true texan down at shepler's western wear...where i picked up these ariat rambler cowboy boots and the essence of a texan...a resistol cowboy hat. i thought i needed some cowboy boots while i was out on the mish and decided i'd get some when i got home. i suppose what really spurred me on lately was a little personal hobby i found recently. while cleaning and going through some boxes in my room i found a microphone...not sure where it came from...but you can hook it into my stereo and sing karaoke. i recorded myself singing some righteous country tunes and found that i quite enjoyed it...so i figured i oughta have some boots and a hat. also notice the texas belt buckle which was a great gift to me while out on the mish.if anyone knows how to get these pics to carrie underwood,by all means, please feel free to do so. we ride and never worry about the fall...i guess that's just the cowboy in us all. good times y'all.

well my lack of posts can be partially attributed to the acquisition of madden '09 (and hey i'll throw lsat preparation in there too)...it's turning out to get me right into football mode. i am currently operating three different franchises...of course the niners...and fantasy drafted ravens team...and then the broncos...i'm in a tight divisional race w/ the broncos...but got a huge win against the chiefs this afternoon on a last second field goal...my offense would be lost without brandon marshall...but right now he's doin the dirt for me. i'm also using time to watch usa basketball...as well as argentina. they matchup against each other tomorrow in the semifinals...i find myself rooting personally for manu, as he will be my favorite player on the floor...but i could never root against the red, white, and blue...so go USA!!! uh...good times.

i like shoes

i really do enjoy shoes...there are 49 of them here. they date back as far as 7th grade...estimated cost if i had paid full price for all of them is $4,405....there are 7 pairs of jordans, my personal favorite...i'm obviously a nike dude w/ 16 pairs...4 adidas...3 reebok...16 of these are basketball shoes...of which i actually wear about 3 in my current rotation(don't wanna scuff up those j's)...there are 2 pairs of the first ever lebron james shoe in this collection...3 pairs of football shoes...two worn as a member of the churchill charger football program...we went 11-11 in those shoes...there are 8 pairs of running shoes...i estimate about 1,000 miles run in those combined...all of those miles within the states of texas, maryland, utah, and virginia...a few of the dressier shoes carried me through two years of the maryland baltimore mission, i hold many experiences in all these shoes as priceless, and just so y'all know i didn't pay anywhere near $4,405 for all of these...i don't know how much money i actually spent for them all.i'm not gonna lie, there are so many more pairs of shoes that i'd buy if i had the money/space for them...maybe a bit ridiculous but to me they just represent good times

it's the most wonderful time of the year

okay so christmas is actually the most wonderful time, but the beginning of football season is a close second...no matter how much i love basketball...there's just something special about football season...teams have begun practicing and the first nfl preseason game was tonight...i've found myself watching anything and everything related to football...including a few classic games from the past...i look forward with hope for a good season from the niners (not too likely), horns (tough schedule, but could), and byu(good if a defense shows up)...so i am officially stoked...the nfl kicks off in a month and texas kicks off their season at the end of august...indeed one might say in the near future there are some definite good times.

i sure am glad it's rainin

according to some sources, robert horry (big shot rob) will not be returning to the spurs next season...to lose barry and horry in a matter of a few days is a tough pill for a loyal,die-hard fan like me to swallow...i hate to think of these guys in other uniforms...they're my fellas...i will never, ever forget the way big shot rob carried us in game five of the nba finals against detroit...that championship will always be my favorite...the fellas really helped pick me up from a rough spot...horry was a big part of that, and it was just an unbelievable performance, capped off by this game winning triple...thank you big shot bob...for all the good times

farewell old friend

today is a sad day...brent barry has left the spurs to join the houston rockets...i have greatly enjoyed bones' presence with the fellas for the last 4 yrs...he's been a solid player,a classy citizen, and a great comedian in the heb commercials which i'll greatly miss...i wish him and his family the best of luck in everything except games against the san antonio spurs...indeed brent barry has been nothing but good times.

quote of the day

"Cause sometimes when you lose your way, its really just as well, because you find yourself,
yeah that's when you find yourself." (sung by Brad Paisley...in reference to Lightning McQueen) i find it funny how a kid's movie and a song for it can be deep like that. i find the movie and this line of the song to have a quite profound meaning for me personally. in other news, i found out today that carrie underwood will be making her way to Texas...that is definitely good times.

(thank you Disney) (thank you People magazine)

the long awaited arrival

well following in the footsteps of my older brother and sister who've recently created blogs...i have decided to pleasure y'all with my long awaited, and much anticipated arrival on the blog scene. to be completely honest, i created this blog a while ago...i was just waiting for something exciting to happen to make a first post. so with my siblings establishing themselves on the blogging scene, and the arrival of a new san antonio spur (roger mason,jr.)...i have made my grand entrance. (is the lack of real excitement in my life apparent?) i just finished one of the highlights of my week in playing ball at the church, the guy trying to guard me had a rough night. good times.
